MS Outlook Drag and Drop files like PDF, Word documents, text files, tiffs, and even URLs

Apologies if everyone but me already knew this, but I just had to share.

I recently discovered that I can drag and drop just about anything into my Outlook mail folders.

I used to regularly scan things, e-mail them to myself, store them in my ever-so-organized Outlook folders, and throw away the paper.  But a short time ago, I accidentally dragged a PDF file into Outlook, and it stayed there, just like an e-mail, except that it had the PDF icon instead of the little envelope.

Since then, I’ve done the same with Word documents, text files, tiffs, and even URLs (drag and drop the IE  — or other browser — symbol from the address window while on the desired Web page).

To drag and drop an item from one application to another (or from the desktop), drag it to the taskbar button for the desired application, but don’t immediately release the mouse button as you normally would. After a couple of seconds, the application window will automatically maximize, and then you can move the mouse to the desired location and release.
