How to help your boss cut airport security wait times

Is your attorney chronically late getting to the airport, or does she just hate waiting in the security line? There’s a way you can help.

The TSA has a Web page where you can find real-time estimated airport wait times. By checking this page, you can pinpoint the specific security line in which your boss should stand to minimize their wait. Say they are departing from gate 30, and the estimated wait at the security checkpoint nearest gate 30 is 18 minutes. But if they walk down the concourse to the line at gate 23, she’ll only wait 7 minutes. I bet they won’t mind that extra stretch of the legs.

Additional tip: Many airlines have special security checkpoints for their elite-level frequent fliers. For instance, if your attorney is gold or platinum with American Airlines and is flying from Dallas-Fort Worth, Boston Logan, Chicago O’Hare, LAX, Miami-Dade County, or LaGuardia, she need only show her card and the shortest of wait times can be hers. Sometimes this is even the case for non-elite members who hold first- or business-class tickets.
